Youth Program Overview
UCM has 2 youth programs to meet the needs of at-risk youth. Bryant Early Learning (BEL) Center - UCM established BEL in 1986 to address our community-wide issue of lack of safe, affordable childcare. Accredited by the Council on Accreditation, the BEL Center provides safe, affordable, developmental childcare to children 6 weeks to 5 years of age.
Youth Empowerment and Leadership Program (YELP) - YELP is a unique youth engagement program that operates in two areas: the Janna Lee Village community and the Hybla Valley elementary school. YELP links children with positive activities and programming so that risk factors affecting their lives are reduced and protective factors are increased. Through a variety of strategies, this program empowers youth to build their self-confidence and make safe and responsible decisions.
