Joseph Conti has provided annually over 300 hours of volunteer service during his tenure on the UCM Board of Directors serving as Board Treasurer from December 2012 to present. As a product of his tireless pursuit of positive change within the organization, Joe established the Young Professionals Board and the UCM Emeritus Board, resulting in increased opportunities for outreach, education, collaboration and increased financial support for the programs and populations served, with the Emeritus Board having raised $50,000 within the first six months of existence.
It is with great pleasure that we nominate Joseph Conti for consideration for a 2016 Fairfax County Volunteer Service Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership, tireless efforts and unfailing pursuit of positive change within the agency and the community that we serve. He has served on the UCM Board since December 2012. He is a retired senior banking executive, retiring in 1992 as a Senior Vice President with Bankers Trust Company after a 23 year tenure. In retirement he has served as a financial services consultant primarily to the Polish American Enterprise Fund (PAEF) in Poland, as well as other clients in Poland and Russia. Mr. Conti has served as a board member and officer at several organizations in both New York and the greater DC metro area. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. in business management, he earned his M.B.A.from the Bernard Baruch College of the City University of New York.
Mr. Conti is a zealous advocate for vulnerable populations, serving as a member of the Emeritus Board of the Children’s Law Center in Washington DC and of the Alumni Board of Doorways for Women and Families in Arlington, VA in addition to his volunteer efforts at United Community Ministries in Fairfax County. Utilizing his many years of education and experience Mr. Conti, in his role as a member of the UCM Board of Directors, serves as Board Treasurer, and is Ex-Officio of every standing Board committee.
Mr. Conti devotes endless hours providing ongoing support and training regarding all financial matters, to include training the non financial professional members of the Board of Directors in both group and individual sessions in reading, understanding and applying the knowledge contained in agency financial statements and budgets. With his infinite energy and enthusiasm he has taught the UCM Board of Directors best practices for Board and Governance including legal rules and responsibilities, and Marketing and Development for.sustainable fundraising. Mr. Conti’s devotion to the agency, its mission and the clients we serve is unwavering, dedicating his time and attention to every detail necessary to understand and improve the operations and outcomes of United Community Ministries.
