This is UCM's largest single-day community food drive. In 2017, we received 12,000+ pounds -- the equivalent of more than 12 "average" single-day grocery store food drives!
How does Scouting For Food Happen for 2018?
On Sat., Nov. 3, local Cub Scouts will distribute Door Tags publicizing this year's collection date as a reminder to area residents across the region.
Then, on the morning of Sat., Nov. 10, Scouts return to neighborhoods to pick up plastic bags filled with food donations from community members like you. Collected food is delivered that day by the Scouts to UCM and other local food pantries.
Call for Volunteers!
Volunteers are needed on Sat., Nov. 10 at our main office at 7511 Fordson Rd., Alexandria VA, to help sort and organize the food. We need scores of volunteers of all ages on site from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Great for groups of all ages welcome (under age 14 with at least 1 supervising adult). It's fun to volunteer with friends!
