We are grateful for the ongoing support of the letter carriers of NALC Union Branch 567 (Alexandria City and parts of southeastern Fairfax County) and the teams at Alexandria area post offices who make this drive a success.
"Thanks to the letter carriers and caring community members, this year's collection drive on May 13 resulted in a total of more than 10,781 pounds of food for UCM," reports Wossenu Weldekiros, UCM Pantry Manager. This quantity will provide about 1,800 people with supplemental groceries for a week, according to UCM statistics.
Now retired, Brian serves at the local Stamp Out Hunger coordinator and champion for the event to shed light on fighting hunger. "They call me the food drive guy," he says. "My fellow letter carriers really get into it and enjoy seeing who can bring in the most food donations every year."
