We all know the value of a good education. A big part of academic success is having the right supplies -- which can be expensive, especially for families who are struggling to make ends meet. Thanks to generous community support, more than 500 eager students registered with UCM started the new school year this week with a new backpack full of grade-appropriate school supplies.
"Our Back to School program relies completely on the generosity of our community and all the volunteers who helped to sort supplies, stuff the backpacks, and assist with distribution when children get to select their own favorite backpack," says Emily Griffin, UCM Development Associate. “It is always so heartwarming to see the big smiles on their faces, and most of the students are so excited they immediately put on their stuffed backpack to wear it home!”
