Sept. 22, 2017 - DACA Information Session (pdf) at Progreso Center, 10 am - noon
The Progreso Center for Literacy and Citizenship empowers immigrants through education, citizenship services, and leadership development.
The program seeks to increase the English speaking skills of area residents. United Community Ministries does this by providing English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to the area’s non-English population and by providing a path to U.S. citizenship through citizenship classes in cooperation with the US Department of Customs and Immigration.
Semester-long classes for ESL Levels 1-4, as well as US Citizenship and History, are taught by trained volunteer teachers in both daytime and evening sessions. English Conversation is held on a "drop in" basis at Good Shepherd Catholic Church and at the Sherwood Hall Library.
