May 2016 - Belle View Elementary Girls on the Run team collected backpacks and held a bake sale, raising $300 to purchase school supplies for UCM's Back to School campaign.
Jan. 2016 - Bishop Ireton High School's Swim Team set up a monthly food collection for UCM. In January, they brought much-needed proteins like peanut butter and tuna.
Aug. 2015 - West Potomac's Freshman Volleyball team volunteered for the day at UCM, assisting office staff with Back to School supplies and other projects.
Aug. 2015 - Students from the West Potomac Cross Country team helped UCM set up for our Back to School distribution.
July 2015 - Students in the West Potomac Dance Team collected school supplies for UCM's Back to School campaign. They dropped off over 300 items to help Mount Vernon children start the school year with the right tools.
June 2015 - Three West Potomac seniors in Students Helping Others United Together (SHOUT) volunteered at UCM for two weeks, helping with our Do More 24 campaign and in the food pantry.
April 2015 - Students from Aquinas Montessori School collected new and gently used books for the eager readers in our client waiting area.
Dec. 2014 - Students from Islamic Saudi Academy collected toys for UCM's Holiday Gift Room.
June 2014 - Seniors at West Potomac who were in Students Helping Others United Together (SHOUT) volunteered their time at UCM for 2 weeks. They helped in several programs around the main office.
Jan. 2014 - 6th Graders at Browne Academy stand with the coats they collected for UCM.
July 2017 - We love our young supporters! Pictured here with his Mom, rising 2nd grader Mitchell hosted a lemonade stand with his younger brother -- and earned $23.30 that they donated to help families and kids at UCM. April 2016 - West Potomac Seniors Sean, Robert, and Will (pictured left to right) helped greet guests at UCM's Viva Las Vegas gala.
March 2016 - When asked at school what he would do with $100, Steve (bottom left) said that he would give it all to charity. His father Ian (left) proudly matched his gift. When they came to drop off their donation, UCM Director of Business Operations Herb Lea gave them a tour of the food pantry.
Jan. 2016 - Many students came to volunteer at the main office during the week that schools were closed by the blizzard.

Aug. 2015 - Julie and Revathi are just two of the many teen volunteers who helped UCM stuff backpacks and distribute them to students during UCM's Back to School campaign.
June 2015 - West Potomac junior, Will Shute (center), and other teens at St. Luke's Episcopal organized this year's Neighbors Helping Neighbors food drive around the Mount Vernon area. Over two months, they collected over 2,500 pounds of food and raised over $2,500 for UCM's food pantry.
Feb. 2015 - For the past three years, Hadley has collected art supplies for UCM Early Learning Center in lieu of birthday presents.
sAug. 2014 - 8-year-old Nicholas donated childrens books for the eager reader in UCM's client waiting room.
July 2014 - Cristal (left) and Ali (right) volunteered in UCM's main office with their mom.
April 2017 - Girl Scout Troop 234 of Waynewood Elementary stopped by with food donations, including 75 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. That meant every family that day was able to receive a special treat! They also got a tour with Food Pantry Manager Wossenu. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, ladies!
March 2016 - Maryclaire chose to work with UCM for her Girl Scout Silver Award. She collected books for our client waiting area and created her own activity book.
Dec. 2015 - A Juniors Girl Scout Troop from Waynewood Elementary collected more than 400 new and gently-used books for our waiting area.
Nov. 2015 - Local Boy Scout troops spent a Saturday picking up donations of canned goods from neighborhoods in Mount Vernon and bringing items to UCM. They collected a total of 11,500 pounds of food for our Food Pantry!
Nov. 2015 - A Daisy Troop at Fort Hunt Elementary made "birthday in a bag" kits for families in our Transitional Housing programs.
Sept. 2015 - Girl Scout Troop #1914 collected items for and made women's hygiene kits for our Basic Needs program, which included hand-stitched carrying bags. (Pictured at right, Troop member Megan)
May 2015 - Eagle Scout Carter Engvall (pictured at right) built a convertible bench/sand box for UCM's Early Learning Center with the help of Boy Scout Troop 888.
April 2015 - Brownie Troop 1522 organized a cereal drive for UCM.
May 2015 - Brownie Troop #26 came to visit UCM's food pantry and stocked our shelves with 70 boxes of cookies for our clients.
June 2014 - Girl Scout Nina Shute (far left) did her Gold Award for UCM by organizing a community-wide food drive to collect food for the Cynthia N. Hull Food Pantry.
May 2014 - Girl Scout Troop 1838 made Easter baskets and organized and egg hunt for the clients of UCM's Transitional Housing program.
March 2014 - Eagle Scout Max Metter built a shed for UCM Early Learning Center to store their outside equipment in.
Oct. 2013 - Eagle Scout Jake Tupitza and Boy Scout Troop 654 built a recycling center for Creekside Village Community Center.
