Community Resource Housing
Community Housing
Resource
Program (CHRP) is a collaborative effort with UCM, Fairfax
County Department of Family Services, Northern Virginia Family Service
and Reston Interfaith, which offers county wide support services to
homeless families.
A second component of CHRP is Families
Achieving Stability (FAS). FAS helps homeless families
graduating from the Community Housing Resource transitional housing
program. Upon completing 2 years of transitional housing families
receive one year of aftercare. UCM is responsible for 18 units located
in the south county area; there are 54 units countywide. Both programs
are funded as a collaboration through HUD as a part of the countywide
Continuum of Care application process.
Referrals primarily come
from homeless shelters and are
reviewed the Fairfax County Department of Family Services prior to
scheduling an interview for admittance into the program. Interviews are
scheduled and representatives from each of the partnering agencies make
up the interview panel. Once a decision is made the referring social
worker is advised of the panel’s decision within 3 to 5 days.
