In recognition of National Childhood Hunger and Awareness Day, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Lambda Kappa Omega Chapter (in partnership with the Educational and Charitable Foundation) are hosting 2 opportunities to help United Community Ministries (UCM) end childhood hunger.
Your support gives children and families in Fairfax County a chance to create a better life for themselves.
Collection of healthy snacks for children and other nonperishable food items such as low-sodium canned goods, low-sugar cereal, and whole grain pastas will benefit youth participating in after-school programs at UCM's Community Centers. Your support gives children and families in Fairfax County a chance to create a better life for themselves.
Childhood hunger is a challenge that threatens our children and our future. According to the No Kid Hungry Campaign, 1 in 5 children live in households that struggle to put food on the table. Proper nutrition is critical to a child’s development and learning. Our goal is to ensure that all children get the healthy food they need every day.
