Vehicle Donation Program

Welcome to the Vehicle Donation Program, the easy and convenient way to dispose of your vehicle. The Back Porch accepts automobiles, trucks, R.V.’s, van’s, and motorcycles.  Vehicles must be in decent working condition with no major repair work needed.

Benefits of Donating:

*  It’s easy. It eliminates the hassle of repairing, advertising and selling your vehicle.
*  Your donation may be tax deductible if you itemize deductions on your Federal tax return.
*  We make all the arrangements including towing your vehicle if you are not able to bring it to us.
*  Save dollars on vehicles you are not using or save on the cost of shipping a vehicle when relocating.
*  Your donation dollars stay in and work for those in need in our local community      Tow Truck

How Does the Program Work?

Call us at 703.768.7106 ext. 333 or fill in the online form below and provide us with the necessary information about your vehicle. We will walk you through all the details. Before donating, you must possess a clear title with no liens on the vehicle.

If your vehicle is in good working order, you may either bring it to our Back Porch store location, or can arrange to have it towed. Vehicles in good working condition are sold through a silent auction process at the Back Porch Store.  Proceeds are then used to fund agency programs.

Tax Deduction Information:

Your donation is a tax deduction, not a tax credit, provided you itemize deductions when you file. Form 8283 “ Non-cash Charitable Contributions” is used to claim your deduction. A copy of this form will be mailed to you with your certification of sale. The new IRS law ( effective January 1, 2005) limits the tax deduction that a donor may claim to the amount of the sale of the vehicle ( unless you intend to claim $500 or less). If you intend to claim $500 or less, you may claim the fair market value of the vehicle.

Contacting Us for Your Donation:

Before calling us, please have the following information available:

1. The title to the vehicle either stamped with the lien release, or have the separate lien release in hand.
