Our Basic Needs program provides much needed supportive services to vulnerable families and individuals requiring emergency assistance. After conducting a client assessment and a counseling session, where necessary, families coming to United Community Ministries (UCM) in their hour of need can obtain emergency food, assistance to prevent eviction and utility cut-off, as well as prescription drug assistance. With our help, families can and do remain in their homes, parents can feed their families, their health outcomes are strengthened, and families receive referrals to other needed services, either offered by UCM or other local social service providers.
For people who need emergency assistance to stay in their home or have other critical needs impacting their daily life and functioning, our Basic Needs Program helps to prevent homelessness and provides critical supports to desperately poor individuals and families.
