Harmony Heritage Singers Benefit Concert: 02/19/12

Music-lovers mark your calendars! The 40-member Harmony Heritage Singers will present a concert in the distinctive musical style known as "barbershop" at Mount Vernon Unitarian Church on Sunday, February 19, at 3:00 pm. There is no admission charge for the concert, but a free-will offering will be taken to benefit UCM.

Restaurant Fundraiser at Cosmopolitan Grill: 02/21/12

When you eat at Cosmopolitan Grill on Tuesday, February 21 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, 10% of the sale from your meal will be donated to United Community Ministries (UCM). The restaurant is generously hosting this event to support UCM and raise awareness of its programs. UCM provides both emergency and long-term services to individuals and families in need in our community. When you go, just tell your server that you are there to help UCM!

Cosmopolitan Grill is a critically acclaimed restaurant conveniently located on Route 1 in Alexandria. “Cosmopolitan Grill's menu is not long, but everything at this rare source for Bosnian flavors in the area shows care,” writes Washington Post food critic, Tom Sietsema.  In addition, Cosmopolitan Grill was recently voted one of the 100 Best Bargain Restaurants by the Washingtonian Magazine.

Mount Vernon Rock Against Hunger:

St. Luke's Church will host the 2nd Annual Mount Vernon Community's "Rock Against Hunger" event on Friday, March 9 at 7:00 pm. The concert will feature local band Black Moon Tonic. The St. Luke's Outreach Committee will designate 100% of the funds raised to be equally divided among UCM, New Hope Housing, and Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Kids ten and under are free. Refreshments will be available.

Local band Black Moon Tonic has been entertaining crowds since 2003 with their signature style and polished blend of rock, country, R&B and originals. Rock Against Hunger attendees can look forward to the cut loose, dance, and party atmosphere that is a standard for all of their shows.
