►20% increase in participants, reaching more than 10,000 in FY 2008, with no increase in staffing.
►In FY 2007 Fairfax County estimated 44,012 people were living below the poverty line:
   UCM servered 23% of that number
►UCM’s food distribution  increased 64% to 378,219 in FY 2008.
   Early months of FY 2009 continuing escalating trend with record breaking numbers.
►Families in crisis are requiring assistance for longer periods of time & a greater number of services
►Unemployment significantly escalating in recent months as unskilled labor loses employment.
►Impact on eviction prevention much greater than numbers indicate, as families are able to put their 
   limited income to housing when food, utilities and other needs are met by UCM.
