UCM Remembers........

Former Sen. Joseph V. Gartlan Jr. an untiring advocate for the environment, the mentally ill, and social services, died on July 18th at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. Mr. Gartlan served in the Virginia Senate from 1972 until 2000. He headed the Privileges and Elections Committee, the Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee and the Health and Human Resource subcommittee of the Senate Finance Committee.  

The board and staff members at UCM would like to extend our condolences to the Gartlan family as we share in the loss to our community.   We are grateful to the Gartlan family for designating UCM as one of the agencies to receive memorial gifts.

BEL Center Registration

UCM's BEL (Bryant Early Learning) Center is presently accepting applications for the Summer and Fall.   To facilitate enrollment, we encourage you to stop by the Enrollment Open House on Wednesday, August 13th.  The BEL Center is fully accredited (COA- Council on Accreditation) and offers a safe and affordable childcare facility.  For further information click on the "BEL Center" at the top of this page, or you may call at 703.765.0909.

United Community Ministries needs the help of our community to alleviate the financial strain associated with the back to school time of year.  With your support, UCM helps to get children in our community off to a good start by filling backpacks with grade appropriate items.  Last year, UCM provided school supplies to over 735 children.
